Orbi RBR50 ac 3000 is limiting 1GB downstream from Spectrum router to 500mbps in Orbi App Speed Test
Orbi RBR50 v2 mesh system with 2 satellites
Firmware Version V2.3.5.30
I just upgraded to Spectrum Lightning Hi Speed Internet with 940.95 mbps Down and 41.60 mbps up measured today by Spectrum technician ( I called them back out after working on this issue for 3 days).
My issue is the Orbi App Speed Test will not recognize the 940 Mbps down from the cable modem as it consistently measures at
approx. 500mbps down and 40mbps up. As mentioned, I thought it an issue with Spectrum service or modem, but I have eliminated that as an issue....Is there a "limiter" setting on the Orbi that you have to change to allow higher speeds? I am relatively new to this so any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

The built in speedtest app isn't the best. half the time it picks the wrong server to test off.
Also, make sure you test with several sites because not all speedtest sites or even the server on those sites can saturate gigabit.
try speedtest.net, dslreports.com, fast.com
Also, make sure the device you test on is hardwired into the orbi.
I have that same orbi and its can hit gigabit speeds.
Btw, the orbi isn't on the current firmwre. 2.5.1.16 is the current orbi rbr50 firmware.
- plemansGuru - Experienced Userand what modem are you using?

Using the Spectrum "No Brand Listed" modem model # E31T2V1
I believe it is the newer one with the Broadcom chip, as there appeared to be 4 manufacturers of it

Thank you very much for the time to answer. I have also run speedtest.net as well as spectrums speedtest, hardwired out of the Orbi to my dell laptop. the results were similar to the Orbi app with approx 490 down and 40 up.
The unusual part is that the technician on his plug in device was able to pull full speeds hardwired out of the Orbi over ethernet.
I will look to update the firmware, that could be the issue?

If the tech was able to plug in his laptop and get good speeds but your laptop does not it would point to your laptop as the bottleneck. Try another computer and/or make sure your laptop is up-to-date with drivers and OS updates.

Also I would suggest you not use browser based speedtests. Download a dedicated speedtest app and run that.
