RBK50 system after power outage satellite connects to router and accepts clients but has no internet

System was running perfectly prior to the power outage. Running firmware V2.7.4.24.

Any clients that connect to the RBK50 still work perfectly fine. Any attempt to access the internet from clients connected to the RBS50 however, are just redirected back to login to the orbi admin console for the satellite. Backhaul status shows as good, wired, with assigned IP. If I check for firmware updates just for a test, the RBK50 indicates no new firmware available, but the RBS50 gives an error that no internet is available.

I've tried various combinations of powering off the units and waiting minutes or more in various orders of startup sequence, using the sync feature, etc. I did a factory reset on the satellite as well, but not the router yet. Nothing has made any difference. What else can I be missing?

It might be helpful to know more about the devices connected to the satellite and what they are attempting to do.

As the Attached Devices display shows them as "connected", are you able to communicate with them from a device that is attached to the router?  (For example, "ping" their IP address.)

By-the-way, Netgear has released a newer firmware version* for the RBK50 system, V2.7.5.4, which can be found here:

https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbk50#download   Instructions for manually installing firmware can be found here:

    https://kb.netgear.com/31573/How-do-I-manually-upgrade-firmware-on-my-Orbi-router-using-orbilogin-com

I  do not mean to suggest that updating the firmware will "solve this problem".  However, when issues persist users are frequently encouraged to update to the latest firmware.

    * People are often surprised that Netgear appears to follow a gradual and incremental approach to releasing new firmware.  After the internal Quality Assurance process and (possible) Beta tests with select users, new firmware may appear on the Netgear support web site where "early adopters" can download, install, and experience "what happens".  I have noticed that comments will appear on the community forum shortly after new firmware appears and they are not always positive.  In at least once instance, new firmware was pulled from the support site because of unfortunate consequences for some users.  Most of the time, after 4-8 weeks, Netgear will trigger the Orbi app or the Orbi web interface to alert users to the new firmware.  There are, of course, numerous customers who never look at the app or the web interface.  (Maybe they are too busy using their WiFi network.)  At some point, Netgear may finally push the new firmware to those customers.

In this case clients include cell phones (iOS and Android), and Windows 10 PC's. Any device connected to the satellite has the same pattern - It successfully receives an IP address and is recognized as connected to the network. However, the devices have no Internet connectivity. If you attempt to open a webpage, any webpage, it will redirect you to the orbi login page for the satellite instead. If you simply walk back downstairs and roam back onto the RBK50 router, internet connectivity is restored.

My next step is to try the firmware update but not expecting much from that.

Thanks for the quick response.  On one of the Windows laptops, can you open a Command window

and try to ping the router (which is usually 192.168.1.1) or an internet server such as Google DNS (8.8.8.8) or perhaps by name, such as ford.com ?

This is the sequence that matters:

    • Turn off and unplug modem.
    • Turn off router and computers.
    • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on computers and rest of network.

I have no modem (FiOS) but pretty sure I did this. Powered everything off, router on first, waited a few min, then satellite. No resolution. I have since done a factory reset on the satellite and reconnected it but the issue persists.
