RBR 53 backhaul status is constantly changing

Hi there,

I have installed the orbi rbr50 with two satellites with wired backhaul daisy chain.

The backhaul status is constantly changing form “good” to “config sync”.

does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Thnx

  • Did a hard reset, everything is working fine now, thnx

  • What Firmware version is currently loaded? Make sure both RBS and RBR FW versions are the same.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

    How often is 'constantly'?

    • All the time. It never stays 'Good' for any length of time.
    • A lot of times, but not every single minute.

If the Ethernet cables are disconnected, do the satellites sync over WiFi?  (It is clear that wired backhaul promises faster speeds. The question is aimed at determining whether the satellites are working at all.)

Does the Orbi Attached Devices web page indicate the backhaul connection is 'Wired'?

Its changing every minute one time.

connection type indicate wired for both satellites at the web page.

When i disconnect the cabels the connection sync over wifi.

There is a possibility that one (or both) of the Ethernet links is flawed.  Backhaul links do not have to "all be the same".

Can you reconnect only the farthest away satellite Ethernet link and see what happens?

(it will take perhaps 5 minutes or more for the system to recognize that the wired link is available)

Then, connect only the first Ethernet link and observe.

When faced with a dilemma such as this, I usually bring both of the satellites into the room with the router, get them to sync over WiFi, and then use Ethernet patch cables to verify that they will sync over Ethernet.

(Silly question: is the performance using a WiFi backhaul terrible?)
