When it doesn't have a battery, they're more susceptible to sketchy power supplies. Have you tried a different supply and cable?

Been using the factory cord and power block. Took another suggestion and run it without the back on and it hasn't done it?

  • It sounds like the issue is still happening even though the firmware is up to date. If the device keeps shutting down during use with no battery mode, it could be a hardware-related problem or a power supply issue. Try using a different power adapter or outlet to see if that helps. If the problem continues, you might need to contact support for a possible hardware check or replacement.

  • There's a chance your device is overheating badly from prolonged use. The NETGEAR Mobile Router series' heatsinks have NOT been able to keep up with the heat emission/dissipation rates of the Snapdragon Chipset when your network is on a full load.

The device shuts off automatically once the device temp reaches 80 degrees celsius, iirc.

The only way to mitigate this is to install small passive heatsinks in the battery bay. If you got an older PC heatsink lying around with a fan set, do use it as it cools the device much faster. In my case, I have a MR6550, and I use the Cooler Master Hyper 212 with 2 fans running. The temps I used to see without an external heatsink were 78, 79 degrees and would shutdown frequently too. The device now runs at just 48 degrees now. A 30 degree difference!
