Nighthawk mobile router roaming

I have a nighthawk M1 mobile router which I’ve using without problems in my home country (UK).

However I am currently in France on holiday with on overseas data plan from EE and the router when switched on says Roaming Data Disabled and never gets beyond the orange flashing lights.

ive opened the Netgear Mobile app but it can’t find the router and won’t accept “admin” and “password” to login, nor does it offer me a “forgotten password” option to reset it.

i then try to access settings via the https route but that tells you log in via the app which I’ve already tried and failed.

ive seen lots of chats online about possible fixes but I haven’t found one that works yet - very frustrating.

Would really appreciate some good advice

  • The reason I'm asking if you have registered it is because NetGear Mobile App gives you Access to extra Advance features that not available on it's built-in LCD screen on the M1?

Hi Fortra, as I cannot even access the app and the app cannot connect with the device it is probably proof that I did not register it correctly. If that’s the case then is there anything more I can try to resolve the situation?

I would also like to thank you for your guidance in this conversation.

Before I travelled to France the only thing I thought I had to be concerned about was the the SIM card roaming - it never occurred to me that the unit itself would have to be configured.

Most importantly this bit of info regarding the Netgear Mobile App you have register the hardware device using the S/N only ?

I have just had a closer look at the M1 & M2 mobile routers apparently the M2 is an updated version of the M1.

Hi Fortra, I didn’t buy the Nighthawk from EE with a data package combined. I bought the nighthawk separately then I bought a data sim from EE. I have indeed been in touch with EE and they confirm that the SIM card is fully roaming enabled.

so I believe the issue is with the nighthawk unit itself

  • Hello, Rich1e

The "Roaming Data Disabled" error occurs because data roaming is turned off by default in your router's firmware, and you must bypass the glitchy Netgear app to fix it. Connect your phone or laptop directly to the Nighthawk's Wi-Fi, open a web browser, and type

Hi mery56lores, thanks for the tip but pikepass.com just takes you to another netgear sign in page which also doesn’t accept the sign in

Let me be clear so that there is no misunderstanding. That site pikepass isn't compatible with your roaming issue in Europe because is for United States users only!
