1G SFP Compatibility on M4300-12X12F
Hello,
I am trying to connect a Netgear M4300-12X12F switch to a Cisco N540X-6Z18G-SYS-A switch using 1G SFP modules.
I noticed that:
- 10G SFP+ modules work perfectly between the switches.
- 1G SFP modules do not establish a link.
Could you please confirm:
- Whether the SFP+ ports on the M4300-12X12F support 1G SFP modules.
- If there is a specific list of supported 1G SFP transceivers for this model.

Alas, not likely for Netgear customers who frequent the Community Forum to have detailed knowledge of commercial products.
The Product Data Sheet clearly states compatibility with both 10G and 1G SFP+ modules:
The User Manual says the same thing:
Internet searches seem to indicate that it should be possible to insert an SFP module into an SFP+ port and the module will operate at 1G.
Is it the same SFP module in both the Netgear and Cisco switch? Are there any other modules that can be swapped in to see if one of the existing modules may be broken?

I tested both SFPs, and they are working fine.
I am using the same module on both ends.
I also tried connecting a Cisco switch to another Netgear switch ProSafe XS728T using the same fiber and SFPs, and it worked.

This does not proof anything but that these two models seems to be workable - nothing more.
What SFP make and model are you testing?
See my earlier reply: Netgear does only support Thier own original SFP and SFP+ modules as listed in the relevant Netgear model datasheet.
The Data sheet is listing specifically:
AGM731F 1000BASE-SX SFP GBIC (Multimode)
AGM732F 1000BASE-LX SFP GBIC (Single mode)
AGM734 1000BASE-T RJ45 SFP GBICNetgear does not support any other SFP or SFP+ modules but these explicitly listed on the data sheet
