Can I create VLANS at my current firmware version on my MODEL M5300-28G-POE+

I am having issues:

1) Creating a VLAN on management switch 1 (Stack of 8)

2) Assigning that VLAN to another switch in the stack (Switch 5, Ports 1,3,5,7,9,& 11)

Basically my plan is to create the VLAN at my firewall, (Successfully done & tested) then pass it to a Port on my management switch 1, then get it over to another switch (#5) in the stack on a couple of ports (1,3,5,7,9, and 11) there.

I'm wondering if because I'm at the following firmware level (v10.0.0.44) wherby the current firmware level is 11.0.0.31 that is inhibing my creating VLANS.

Thank you

    Hi MKBKC,

You should be able to create VLANs even if the firmware of your M5300-28G-POE+ switch is on firmware v10.0.0.44.  However, it would be best if your M5300-28G-POE+ switch is on the latest firmware version.

If ever you decide to upgrade the firmware, I recommend that you do it in a ladderized manner.  First, upgrade the firmware from 10.0.0.44 to v10.0.0.53.  Then, upgrade from v10.0.0.53 to v11.0.0.10 and so on until you reach the latest firmware v11.0.0.31.  Be reminded to perform a factory reset after upgrading the firmware to the latest version then reconfigure it from scratch in order to start clean using the latest firmware version.

      Thank you
