usually TFTP is the way to load firmware etc.
you did but 2nd handed so blame is on you in the first place. forum is user to user only so someone might answer who had same issues with it.
I loaded the firmware via XModem and followed the KB articles on netgear's site.
Is this box dead? Do the jumpers have any functionality?
Inside I do see a flashing D22 led when the box has power. The inside show no visible damage - VERY clean, no bulging capacitors, burn marks, everything is solid. It seems this is all software related since the software has rendered this box unusable.
The box doesn't give me boot options any longer.
Again, I followed the two articles related to not booting according to Netgear's KB - load via XModem and Switch Recovery Tool.
The box is now dead as far as I can tell. VERY disappointing since the box was getting to boot menu and able to receive operation code before running that tool.
Not sure why you're pointing fingers. No need to be aggressive. I am asking for help or anyone else's experience to resolve my issue.
Another thing that might be worth noting is a date stamped on the lid of the case - "2004-10-20"
So given a 5 year warranty time... if this box was manufactured right at the end of 2004 and possibly purchased at the very beginning of 2005 this box is JUST (like 4-6 weeks) out of warranty? Is Netgear lenient on this kind of issue? I'm wondering if they would be more open to RMA since their software has rendered the box into its current condition? Is it worth making another phone call.
