Fiber optic or LAG or both

We have a network of 15-20 PCs in a network the transfers large CAD file frequently (upwards of .5 Gb) We occasionally have considerable lags in loading and saving files. We are buying a new server and a new switch and I was wondering what the best link between the server and switch would be, fiber optic or ethernet with link aggregation or should just a single ethernet connection suffice

  • Our PCs are split between XP based PCs with P4 Hyperthreading CPUs and Windows 7 Pro quad core machines. We even have a couple Win98 SE units we still use because the software we depend on was originally DOS based.
  • I believe the GSM series should fit the requirements. You'll just have to consider how much latency are you getting to decide whether you need LAG or not.
