GS728TPSB - Change SFP Stacking mode to optical uplink mode

Hello,

I have a Netgear Switch type GS728TPSB and I cannot use the SFP Port 27 and 28 to connect a typical network videoencoder.

Ports 23 - 26 are working with this encoder, but Port 27 and 28 not.

I saw the following information in the datasheet regarding Port 27 and 28:

2 x SFP slots (port 27 and 28) to

support 1 G optical module (uplink)

and 2.5 G stacking (via stacking

cable AGC761)

It seems, that in the default settings this port is in the "Stacking-mode". How is it possible to change this to a normal "optical-mode (Uplink)"?

I opened also the webbrowser of this netgear switch, but I didn't find a way to change this. It was not possible to change it.

Do you have a ideo, how to change it? Where in detail can I find this setting in the webbrowser?

Or is it not possible?

Best Regards,
Marcel

  • I believe the setting is under System > Stacking > Advanced > Stack Port Configuration, and you'll have to check on one of the stacking ports and change its Configured Stack Mode to Ethernet.

mgmtmt is correct. Note that you will most likely need to reboot after changing and applying for this take effect (I'm like 99% sure of this, but haven't tested it in quite a while so my info might be a bit outdated :) )
