  • I fixed the issue - but not exactly sure why it happened.

I bought the switch used and it was running firmware: 9.0.2.15.

First thing I did was upgrade to 10.0.2.26 before even trying POE.

I noticed some errors during startup related to: hpc_poe_platform saying POE controller requires programming.

So I reverted back to 9.0.2.15 and everything worked.

I upgraded to 9.0.2.18 and it worked.

Then to 10.0.1.21, finally back to 10.0.2.26 and POE still working and no errors on startup.

So either I shouldn't have jumped directly from 9.0.2.15 to 10.0.2.26, or else something went wrong with the original upgrade. I didn't see anything in the release notes about

prerequisite firmware to get to 10.2.26.

  • If an IP phone works normally between intermittent reboots, the problem could be related to PoE or an electrical connection in the cable. It could also be caused by a temporary loss of connectivity between the IP phone and the call manager. Burger King Survey
