M4100 USB Console Cable
Hello, I need to access the USB console port of a M4100 and the USB Console Cable has been misplaced. Is there a way to buy one, or will any USB Mini-B cable work? Thanks! Matt

Hello Matt
Any USB Mini-B should work.
Cheers

So .. my boss is remote and needing to know how a standard Mini-USB cable and Putty can be used to console into this model switch. Is there a driver I need to download? Is there another software that is needed?

Hi jasonhille,
You may refer to this download link for the USB console driver:

For your reference as well, kindly check this KB article.

My google search yielded the same results. My understanding, which you may be able to confirm, is that any mini-USB cable will work as long as the machine using Putty has the appropriate driver installed. Just plug the cable into the USB console port on the switch and then a COM port will become active and can be used with Putty .. right?

Hi jasonhille,
Yes, that is right.
It should show the COM port on Device Manager > Ports then use that on Putty or any TEP.
