GSM7352S Could not server DHCPREQUEST

NetGear Team,

We are experiencing a problem where a couple of our laptops are not able to recieve a DHCP IP Address from our NetGear GSM7352S switch.

Complete errors is here as seen in the monitoring logs:

8.10.254-1 DHCPS[186301088]: dhcps_main.c(2961) 2967 %% INIT-REBOOT REQUEST: Found lease for requested IP 192.168.15.179. Could not serve DHCPREQUEST as the request received on different subnet 192.168.11.1. Sending DHCP NACK packet to 98:5A:EB:8A:9C:36

Can't seem to find an answer online.

Clear arp-cache doesn't seem to resolve the problem.

The client machine ends up with 'self-assigned ipaddress' with a 169.xx.xx.xx address.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

John Dworske

    Hello jdworske,

    Welcome to the community!

We'll need to isolate the issue for us to give you a proper troubleshooting. I have a few questions for you, I have listed them below:

    1. What are the changes that you have made before your experience the issue?
    2. What is the firmware version running on your switch?
    3. Do you have VLANs configured on the switch?
    4. Is the GSM7352S the main DHCP server.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks,

      JohnRo,

      1. What are the changes that you have made before your experience the issue? - we haven't made any changes.  Seemed that this has been an ongoing problem for a while now.  It appeared to us that somehow when a reboot of the switch occurs - that will fix the problem.  However, we don't want to continually rebooot that switch as it is in our production enviroment.
      2. What is the firmware version running on your switch? 10.0.0.53 - we have 2 swithches stacked with both same firmware
      3. Do you have VLANs configured on the switch? Yes we have 3 Vlans. (192.168.11.0, 192.168.14.0, 192.168.15.0)
      4. Is the GSM7352S the main DHCP server.  - MAIN DHCP server for the mentioned VLANS above.  We have a 3 vlan which is our corporate at 192.168.0.1 that is using a WINDOWS Server 2008 R2 DHCP server.

      Hope that heps us!

      :-)

      Thank you,

      John Dworske

        Hello jdworske,

Sorry for not getting back to this right away. If possible, I'd like to request to perform a firmware reflash (save the configuration and reinstall the firmware 10.0.0.53) for your units. There was an issue on the older firmware where the switch stops offering DHCP when it get many DHCP IP conflicts (this was supposed to be fixed by the firmware 10.0.0.53).

Let us know if this helps.
