How to map or configure SAS ports with DAC cables in Netgear M4350 switch
We have 2 Netgear M4350 switches and connected with DAC cables (SAS ports / SFP+ DAC) to all devices like server and storage. How can we map the ports and configure the Netgear M4350 switches? ...

Actually, we have Netgear M4350 switch. Server and storage are connected to Netgear switch over 10G SFP+ DAC cables.
In server and storage side its showing SAS ports and also in Netgear switch side its showing DAC / ports status is up.
My question is how may we configure the netgear switch to communicating between server and storage. Because its showing DAC in switch side.

What exactly does this unknown (SAS) storage serving? Either it's SAS (pure block storage) or it's NAS so serving over a network connection (SMB, NFS, iSCSI). DAC can be used for SAN (SAS) or for NAS (Ethernet). To my knowledge, the Netgear switches are pure networking switches, not SAN switches.

- schumakuMar 31, 2024Guru - Experienced UserWith the MSA 1040 2-port 10GbE iSCSI Controller, it can certainly be configured for iSCSI, so kind of a NAS then. With the MSA 1040 2-port FC Controller it strict SAS only. As I said before, both variants might work with passive DAC. And again (at least to my knowledge) these switches are not SAS storage switches, but pure Ethernet only - despite both making use of the same connectors and cables.
