Incorrect temperature and false errors when fans are stopped
Hi,
Please may we report two bugs in the Netgear M4300 firmware, we're currently running the latest available v12.0.13.8
Issue one:
Every single 8X8F, 12X12F or 24X24F switch miss represents its temperature by aproximately 20-30 ℃.
Herewith 4 stacks in different data centres where the devices are stacked close to each other, with only a brush panel separating the units. The X96, 52G and 28G do not appear to suffer from this problem and show the correct temperature:
unit 1 (M4300-12X12F): mac:59 ℃ system:68 ℃
unit 2 (M4300-12X12F): mac:59 ℃ system:68 ℃
unit 3 (M4300-28G): mac:39 ℃ system:37 ℃
unit 1 (M4300-24X24F): mac:69 ℃ system:54 ℃
unit 2 (M4300-24X24F): mac:62 ℃ system: 47℃
unit 3 (M4300-28G): mac:31 ℃ system:29 ℃
unit 4 (M4300-28G): mac:32 ℃ system:29 ℃
unit 1 (M4300-24X24F): mac:79 ℃ system:64 ℃
unit 2 (M4300-24X24F): mac:78 ℃ system: 63℃
unit 3 (M4300-96X): mac:49 ℃ system:55 ℃
unit 4 (M4300-96X): mac:48 ℃ system:54 ℃
unit 1 (M4300-24X24F): mac:69 ℃ system:54 ℃
unit 2 (M4300-24X24F): mac:70 ℃ system: 55℃
unit 3 (M4300-52G): mac:33 ℃ system:42 ℃
unit 4 (M4300-52G): mac:32 ℃ system:41 ℃
Issue two:
M4300 units turn off fans when temperature is within certain ranges. This however then results in false positive warnings flooding the logs as it reports the fans as having stopped.
We have one unit where we need to replace a faulty fan, this is represented as 'FAN Status' showing all of the fans as 'OK' with only one having a status of 'Failure'. A stack in a cold rack subsequently indicates the stopped fans to have a status of 'Stop' and not 'Failure' but logs are flooded with warnings.

Hello,
is there a Solution for that Problem? I have 2 M4300-8X8F in a Stack and the same Problem. Log is Full with messages when Log Level is at "Notice":

Both Switch's have Firmware Version 12.0.15.4
