JGS516PE can this switch test bandwidth?

Hi

I have this switch and I am making my own Cat6 cables and terminating them etc

I have a cable tester but its a cheap one that does not show me what max bandwifth the cable can transfer

Is there a way the switch can tell me this info?

  • Hi,

No, the switch can't tell you that. Also, this is a gigabit switch so no matter how good your cables are, the speed of any device connected to the switch will never exceed 1Gbit/s. Cat 6 cables are usually made to carry 10Gbit/s traffic, but again you switch can't exceed 1Gbit/s on its ports and thus it is likely that the switch will be the bottleneck, not your cables.
