M4300 24f Dante Problems

Hello all,

I saw some information on a previous post that pretty much mimics my issue identically, and I'm looking for some guidance.

The system is a M4300 24x 10g SFP switch at the core, and five Cisco Catalyst 1000 switches on the edge. These switches are being used primarily for Dante transmission, but I'm having trouble with inter-switch communications. I put a dante device on one switch, put another device on another switch, and they both manifest as clock masters. Connecting the C1000's together makes the problem go away, it's only traffic that passes through the M4300's.

I did the configuration guide netgear provides, but still no dice.

Here is the former article that is almost spot on the same problem. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Managed-Switches/M4300-52G-Stack-with-Dante-IGMP-problems/m-p/1752267

  • Hi there,

First, are you running the latest firmware on that NETGEAR switch?  Also would it be possible to copy and paste your configuration so we can see if the configuration looks good?

    Thanks!

    derek

So I ended up trying an upgrade to latest firmware (was 12.0.8, up to 12.0.11) and that seems to have solved the problem. Do you know, were there any PTP or similar problems that were fixed between those two versions? Just trying to make sure it wasn't some other problem that will bite me later that I need to address.

Yeah we had fixed some PTP issues, I can't remember which firmware to be exact.  Regardless please be sure to always download the latest and greatest from our website whenever you get a switch in.  thanks!!
