Netgear enterprise switches & LLDP PortID

Below is the 'lldpctl' output from a Linux host connected to a Netgear M4300. Why does the 'PortID' get the word 'local' as a refix?  This is wreaking havoc on some of our switch monitoring software. Cisco, Arista and others just show the PortID like 1/0/1, etc. Juniper uses the word local but they have the ability to customize this PortID string so that it can be removed.

    Capability:   Router, on

  Port:

    PortID:       local 1/0/5

    PortDescr:    1/0/5

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Apparently the LLDP-MED feature changes the portID sub-type from 'ifname' to 'local'. I found this just by some luck in that I disabled LLDP-MED. Here is a Linux host running lldpctl when LLDP-MED is turned on:

    [root@NTNX-14SM36451141-A ~]# lldpctl

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    LLDP neighbors:
