Password Recovery - M4100-D12G
Hopefully a simple answer here. I'm looking to recover/reset the password for a M4100-D12G switch. I'm using the the Mini USB console connection and I have the switch on the back to the left as instructed.
Using the following in PuTTy as instructed in the documentation here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/M4100-D12G%20%28GSM5212v1h1%29.aspx#docs
Configure the terminal emulation program to use the following settings:
• Baud rate: 115,200 bps
• Data bits: 8
• Parity: none
• Stop bit: 1
• Flow control: none
I have the USB Console Driver Installed from the downloads page here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/M4100-D12G%20%28GSM5212v1h1%29.aspx#download
When I plug the mini USB into my computer a new COM port appears, CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM5)
However when I attempt to connect using that COM port, it just makes a bong noise and nothing happens.
What am I missing here? is the only time I can actually access the CLI to reset the password on the switch during the boot up???

Disregard..it would help if I knew how to use PuTTY. It would help if I choose the right connection type (Serial) under Session...Configured the serial settings, but have to choose the right type of session. smh
