Unable to login to M4100-D12G CLI

Hi.

I've just bought an M4100-D12G and am trying to access it. I tried to access the web management interface at 169.254.100.100 after setting my device to ip 169.254.100.201/16, but was unable to ping the switch even when directly connected to it with an ethernet cable.

So instead, I'm attempting to access it via the CLI. There are several manuals for this device of course, not least the 578 page long CLI Manual, however it doesn't seem to cover the most trivial part, the User and Password for initial login. I've tried the following (based on the credentials in the Installation Guide, which says to use "admin" without a password):

User: admin, Password:
User: admin, Password: admin

User:

All of which just return me to the same "User:" prompt (see screenshot). I've also tried resetting the switch with the reset-button on the switch, which does give me output in the serial connection and returns me back to the "User:"-prompt after resetting the switch.

In case it's relevant, I'm connected via mini-USB and using PuTTy to connect to it with the following settings (as per the manual):
Baud: 115200
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Parity: None
Flow control: None
