Can you compare the results with what you have inputted. Check subnet mask, and that default gateway is the same as your Router IP.
Plug out switch. Can you ping the IP in question, and see if some other
device responds.?

Hi Marto and many thanks for the reply. I had almost given up on this forum so very glad you have responded.
First I should have stated at the outset I do not use windoze so no Ipconfig command but the subnet checks out all OK using Linux equivalents and there is no address conflict.
What is strange is that on the switch management page the factory default address is still showing but I cannot access the switch using it. However the subnet address I first set is the address which still works and can be pinged, even after doing a factory reset. Very strange.
If you have any further thoughts please let me know. Meanwhile I have connectivity which seems to work OK so shall get on with trying to sort out my site architecture and Vlans.
