ProSafe M4100-50G-POE+ and Calix Optical SFPs

With this being a commerical switch I was surprised when the switch was unable to give any operating status while using different Calix SFP's. Using the 'show fiber-ports optics-info all' shows the SFP, but the 'show fiber-ports optics all' command only returns N/A for all info on the current running condition  of the SPF. Any chance Netgear will be supporting this brand of SFP since Calix is one of the largest brands of fiber optic equipment in the telecom industry?

    Daniel,

Unfortunately we don't support GPON transceivers in those SFP garages.  We have no plans to support GPON transceivers.

These are not GPON SFP's. They are Calix part numbers 100-01668 and 100-01669.

        Hi DanielWilliams

According to this listing, these are 1GE SFP, Single Mode Fiber, Bi-Directional/BIDI (Single Fiber), "Upstream" and "Downsteam" 20Km transceivers. At first glance you are right, there should be no obvious reason why our M4100 Managed Switch series can't accept these. We have successfully tested and validated other BIDI 1G modules from other major brands in the past. I trust you are correctly interconnecting upstream and downstream transceivers.

We need to troubleshoot this pair of SFPs. When observing the issue, please can you export the Tech Support file out of M4100-50G-POE+ switch and send it to us (for instance to me using MP). This file will provide our Tech Support and Engineering teams enough preliminary information on the issue.

First, please log in to the command line interface of the switch, and from enable mode, run the command: show tech-support. When done, you can proceed with the CLI method or the Web GUI method below.

Using CLI, you can use the COPY command described in M4100 CLI manual on page 371, the file to copy is <<nvram:tech-support>>.

Using the Web GUI, you can upload the Techsupport file by selecting Select Maintenance > Upload > HTTP File Upload for instance, as described in M4100 WEB manual on page 411.

        Regards,

I have worked with an SFP vendor who has modified their products to work with the Netgear M4300's and M4100's. This vendor is Percision Optical Transceivers and can be reached at sales@precisionot.com +1 (585) 500-4090. They have produced single fiber units that run 10, 20, 40, and 80 KM for me.
