Simple dB question regarding M4300 8x8f vs XS812Tv2
Hi all,
I want to upgrade my home lab to 10G. I am considering either buying either the M4300 8x8f or the XS812Tv2 switch. The XS712 at this juncture fully satisifies my needs, but I wouldn't mind having a fully managed unit as my backbone switch either. All I want to know is could either of these switches be running in a quiet enviroment or do they actually belond in a rack cage in a server room? Thanks.

Thank you for considering either NETGEAR Smart Managed Pro XS712Tv2 switch or NETGEAR Fully Managed M4300-8X8F (XSM4316S) switch.
Both models are line-rate 10 Gigabit models, with 12-port and 16-port respectively. While both can be deployed inside or outside of the rack, the XS712Tv2 will be quieter when the ambient temperature is 25°C (77°F) or less. If the XS712Tv2 connectivity (number of copper ports, fiber ports) and feature set (standalone operation and Layer 2+ static routing software package) satisfy your needs, you may have a winner here. 29.1dB is very low noise rating and it can be suitable in a quiet environment like an open space in an office. But probably not in a bedroom!
I hope this helps,
