Unmanaged switched connected to a GS316EP is having issues

I'm currently using a GS316EP running in Basic 802.1Q VLAN.
Firmware 1.0.3.7

I only have two VLANs, 100 and 200. I've configured one uplink that goes directly to a PFSENSE box. That pfsense box is configured to treat anything tagged as "100" as LAN.

Vlan 200, is for two POE switches, one is some random brand I've never heard of and the other is a GS316P. The netgear POE switch is unmanaged. The other random brand, I am not sure of.

I'm trying to add another unmanaged switched onto port, 9, to extend the LAN network into a different build. I am using an unmanaged trendnet 8 port switch. When I plug the cable running from port 9 to my laptop, I am assigned an IP address from the DHCP server on the pfsense box, and everything works fine. However, when I plug the cable from port 9 into the unmanaged switch, then plug a cable from my laptop into the unmanaged switch, I don't receive and IP address.

I find it weird that one unmanaged switch, the Netgear POE switch on VLAN 200 works fine. However, the trendnet unmanaged switch on VLAN 100 doesn't.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I just replace my trendnet switch with something from the Netgear family? GS308?

Nothing obviously wrong with the config, as you have proofed with the direct PC connection to the port you intend to connect.

Reads more like some basic issue with the TPlink switch connected. Any LinkLEDs or similar on the TPlink to confirm the Ethernet link to the GS316EP and the test system? Regardless of the unmanaged switch brand, I'm tempted to state that other switch is probably broken.

Ahh OK, so I'm not crazy. I've gone ahead an ordered a Netgear unamanged 8 port. We'll see how that works out.

      Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
