vlan configuration
In my router, I have 2 VLANS (128, 172.16.128.1 /18 & 192, 172.16.192.1 /18) assigned to port 0/0/4. I have 2 netgear switches, and I want to make one part of the 128 VLAN and the other 192 VLAN. I want to connect cable from the router to port 1 on the netgear. I have VLAN 128 created on one of the switch.
The question is, under VLAN, member ship for VLAN 1, do I select port 1 as "U" or "T"? And for VLAN 128 mark port 1 as "U"?

Are you talking about the switch configurations?
"T" says to tag traffic leaving the switch with the VLAN tag, "U" says not to do that. Since the router supports VLAN tagging you should use "T" on the switch ports that connect to the router VLAN ports.
If you are connecting devices that don't support VLANs to the switch, then you should set the ports used by those devices to "U".

If you want port 1 to carry packets for both VLANs, you normally set set the port to "T" in both. That helps ensure that the router can tell what VLAN each packet is associated with.

I'm talking about the switch side. On interface 0/0/3 of my router, I have 2 VLANS. 192 (172.16.192.1), and 128 (172.16.128.1), and port 0/0/3 is set as trunk on the router, and 0/0/3 is a member of both VLANS.
The cable goes from 0/0/3 on the router to port 1 on the Netgear switch. My question is about the Netgear switch. I have two Netgear switches, and I want one to be on all VLAN 128, and the other on VLAN 192.
Should I mark port 1 on the Netgear switch with a "T", and make the rest of the ports members of VLAN 128? I'm guessing I need to mark the last port to be a "T" so it can trunk with the other Netgear switch on VLAN 192.
