Connecting a GS724T to another GS724T

I have two GS724T's about 40m apart connected by 2 20m cable with a cheap hub which connects the 2 cables together, this has been the configuration for a long time and its worked very well.

I want to get rid of the cheap hub as its the weak link in the connection and I have installed two 40 meter cables, one as a backup and I just can not get the two switches to talk.

if I connect the one end of any of the cables to a PC it works

I have tried socket 1 to socket 1 the lights light up but no traffic

I have tried 24 to 24, the same thing

I have tried 1 to 24 and 24 to 1 and the same thing

I have also tried all the above using an crossover adaptor and still nothing

As soon as I plug the old cables back up everything works fine.

I must be missing something :(

Can anyone help as I installed these new cables 2 months ago and have been trying on and off since then to get it to work

Kind regards

Rob

These are smart switches. You have posted your message in the section of this community given over to Nighthawk WiFi Routers. (This is easily done, given Netgear's complicated community structure.)

Many questions apply to different types of device, so you might get responses here, but switches and routers are very different animals, so you might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your hardware, in the appropriate section for your device. That's probably here:

Smart / Plus / Click Switches - NETGEAR Communities

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
