Hi, I need (or rather want :smileyvery-happy:) to install two switches in a place where there is no power. My existing network consists of an ASUS WiFi Router and not much else. My plan is as follows:Run power + data via a PoE+ Injector to the first GS105PERun the second GS105PE off of PoE Passthrough from the first GS105PEOnly run data (no power) from the rest of the available ports (PoE only needed to power the switches themselves).I hope this mockup will explain my theory: Will this work?Thanks in advance.

GS105PE PoE Daisy Chain

Hi,

I need (or rather want :smileyvery-happy:) to install two switches in a place where there is no power.

My plan is as follows:

Run power + data via a PoE+ Injector to the first GS105PE
Run the second GS105PE off of PoE Passthrough from the first GS105PE
Only run data (no power) from the rest of the available ports (PoE only needed to power the switches themselves).

Router <-GbE-> PoE+ injector <-GbE/PoE Plus 25.5W-> GS105PE <-PoE Class0/3 15.5W-> GS105PE

Never tried - shoud be workable in my opinion. No spare GS105PE at hand for a test I'm afraid.

  Kindly answer the questions below:
  
  a. Why connect a 2nd GS105PE switch? (The 2nd GS105PE switch will only give the same port allowance as the 1st GS105PE switch anyway, 4 Ethernet ports with port 1 & 2 PSE ports)
  b. What type of devices will be connected to the second switch?
  c. Do they require to be powered by PoE? If yes, how much power do they need?
  
  For me, I would rather use the GS110TP smart switch instead of having 2 GS105PE switch cascaded. To know more about the GS110TP switch, check its data sheet here.
