GS316EP PoE schedule not working

Hello! I have GS316EP mit firmware version 1.0.2.6.

I wanted to set up PoE schedule in order to powercycle my access points every day at 3am for 1 minute. It looks very simple and I think I did it right, but somehow the APs are not powercycled. Could anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

I clicked PoE from the top menu. Then on the left column "PoE schedule".

"Apply to multiple ports", and then click the ports to make them purple.

Date from 1/16/2024 to 1/15/2067 (i.e. never end)

Range one: 0AM to 3AM, range two: 3:01AM to 12 PM.

Isn't it correct for powercycling at 3am everyday ? I don't understand why it's not doing it. Is there any log file available, so that I can see what's going on?

For now I'm going to see if something happens if I change the beginning of the range two to 3:02am: a bit longer pause.

I would appreciate your help!

  • Not convinced a scheduled downtime of about one minute is sufficient. The aim of the PoE schedule is to have a scheduled uptime, for typically some hours each.

Thank you for your reply! So it is not intended to be used as a method of powercycling the access points, then. But if that's the case, it should be written so.... I tried it with 2 min of down time to see if it makes difference: it didn't do it either. I would not like to have it off for longer time. I will then just scheduled reboot on the controller of the AP. I meant that it would be better to cut the power off than just let them reboot.

Or, is there any other way of powercycling the AP's every day at 3am?

This is based on experimentation and own experience only, nothing "official".

I would like to see a dedicated control for scheduled PoE-power restart, similar to the pure manual operations control we know from Netgear Insight - PoE Management -  Select the ports you want to power cycle, and then select START POWER CYCLE begin.
