No DHCP on NETGEAR GS316EP via FritzBox
Hi all,
I have a issue with my GS316EP (Firmware 1.0.3.7), if I am connecting it directly to the FritzBox the switch doesn't get any IP address from the FritzBox, the DHCP is marked as active:
I can only connect directly if I am connected with my laptop to the switch with fixed ip address 192.168.0.239, no VLAN is active.
If I am connecting my other Netgear switch GS110EMX to the FritzBox the switch get's an ip address assigned.
Next step would be connect FritzBox with GS110EMX to GS316EP to get internet connection, must I configure on both switches a trunk via default VLAN or is it not needed?
Thanks for help.
Hi Kurt,
FS hat das Modul zurück genommen und das 1 GB-Modul funktioniert jetzt, danke nochmal für die Hilfe.

Some FritzBoxes can be configured so some LAN ports are connecting to different networks, like Guest or assigned to an IPTV network.
Start with the GS316EP connecting to the GS110EMX (assuming it's on the default config and no other VLANs are in use), cold boot it (power cable off and on), then head to https://www.netgear.com/support/product/netgear-switch-discovery-tool/#download to download, install the Netgear Switch Discovery tool for your computer (Windows, Mac, Linux, ...) and launch it. Convinced both switches can be discovered.

Hi,
the tool is working, but I have only access via the static address, the switch doesn't get an ip address assigned from the FritzBox, thanks.
Now I have another problem, I have connected the GS110EMX with the 10GB/s port to the GS316EP 10GB/s SFP RJ45 modul, but I get no connection (only 1,5 meter CAT7 cable), link LED on GS110EMX says all good. If I now connect the GS110EMX 10GB/s port with only one of the 1 GB/s ports of the GS316EP connection is working, what is the problem on the SFP 10GB/s port, is there a difference between the plugin modules?

Hi,
switch got now ip address after some time from the FritzBox, I don't know why it takes more then 30 minutes. I also found out that Netgear switches needs a AXM765 10GB/s RJ45 compatible modul, will see if this helps and solve my issue.
