IP Conflict

Hi support team,

We have a GS752TPv2 switch and the previous person installed the switch on our network did not know the IP address pickup by the switch conflict with our DNS Server Ip address.

The switch is configuring with ( Dynamic IP address  DHCP ).

How do I remove the Ip address and apply a different Ip address to the switch ?

Please advise.

Thanks.

If the switch management interface is configured by DHCP, you need to change the DHCP config, resp. the assignment between the switch admin MAC address and the IP address assigned. On one hand, define a different IP address there (in the IP pool range typically), on the other hand the DNS server IP should be excluded from the DHCP range or reserved by putting in a "random" (or the real DNS server adapter) MAC address so it's reserved either way.

The switch is on another State.

If I assign the switch  static ip for temporay will the switch drop ?

How do I add different ip address to the DHCP since it gray out ?

      Thanks.

Changing the IP address should be possible - but keep in mind that routing could be involved, too.

DHCP address assignment is done by the DHCP server, not on the device, and so is the management. Could be the router on smaller sites, some server, some Microsoft AD, some switch, ... your IT should know.

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the LAN Switch products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Switch products and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

    Thank you.

The switch is configured for DHCP, we can assume no static IP assigned on the switch therefore - so it might well be a router issue. Or where evet the DHCP server is operated and managed.
