JGS516PE cannot access either through web or ProSafe
Hi,
I have ProSAFE Plus 2.7.8 installed on my computer as well as the Swtich Discovery Tool. My switch came to me with the FW version 2.0.0.31. At first I couldn't connect to it through the web gui, neither through my DHCP-controlled network nor connected directly using the factory default addresses it expects.
I managed to connect to it only the ProSAFE and once that was done I promptly made sure to update it to the most currect firmware which is 2.6.0.43. Now still can't connect to it through the web gui and ProSAFE doesn't work with it anymore, giving me a "Command is not supported by agent" message.
What now?
I've seen threads mentionning a setting that controls how to can connect to the switch web/ProSAFE but I can't change anything now sinceI don't have access.
I tried the factory reset button 3 times for 5-10 seconds easch already and it didn't seem to change anything. The firmware version reporte by ProSAFE remains the same (2.6.0.43)
editL I have tried 3 different web browser in my attempts to connect to the web gui so the problem can't lie there.
I got it working now, I just followed the steps outlined here instead of trying to connect just the switch and my computer together.

Can you try to use Incognito Mode on Chrome or user New Private Window in Firefox then check if you will be able to login to the web-GUI of the JGS516PE.

Be informed that it is mentioned in the Release Notes of Firmware v2.6.0.43 here, the Switch Management Mode default value has been changed from "Web browser and Plus Utility" to "Web browser" only.
About the error: "Command is not supported by agent," let us try this. Let us use the option ProSafe Plus Utility and web browser to manage the JGS516PE, login to its web-GUI then go to System > Management > Switch Management Mode then select the "Web browser and Plus Utility" option and apply the settings.

Thanks for chiming in Dane.
I tried private browsing modes in both Chrome and Firefox and in both cases the connection times out.The Switch Discovery Tool locates the switch on the network as well as it's MAC address, at the default IP 192.168.0.239. Pinging the switch using CMD also times out but it switches properly otherwise.
I got it working now, I just followed the steps outlined here instead of trying to connect just the switch and my computer together.
