Link aggregation across switches
I'm trying to get static LAG to work spanning switches but it is not working
Setup
Clients-GS116Ev2#2=TL-SG108E=GS116Ev2#1=Synology
-The connections between switches are static LAG
-For some reason GS116Ev2 static LAG to Synology doesn't work, but that's another forum topic. Currently, Synology is on active load balancing with two connections to GS116Ev2.
Result
-I can get > 1 Gbps locally within GS116Ev2#1 using two clients.
-I can only get 1 Gbps when pulling data across the switches using two clients.
Questions:
1) Is it not possible to get LAG to work across GS116Ev2 with another switch?
2) Is it an issue with the way GS116Ev2#1 is connected to Synology even though locally I can pull >1 Gbps?
3) Is it an issue with compatability with TL-SG108E and if I replace it with a Netgear-based switch with Static LAG on (e.g. another GS116Ev2), then I will be able to pull >1 Gbps?

The GS116Ev2 complies with the IEEE 802.3ad standard (LAG). Hence, if the other switch (such as the TL-SG108E) also complies with the IEEE 802.3ad standard, then it should work.
Kindly check the LAG settings of the TL-SG108E. You may want to check the current firmware of both switches. If ever its not yet the latest version, I suggest you to update it. The latest GS116Ev2 firmware is v2.6.0.48 and you can download it here.

If this doesn't won't work, I advise you to open a support ticket with NETGEAR Support here at anytime.

Not sure if you have already came cross with this. Let me share the KB article below:
If this won't work, ...
Afraid, I have to call back the high flying horses a little bit.
Dynamic link aggregation with LACP groups as per 802.3ad (more appropriate 802.11ax) on Smart Managed Plus switches is limited to a few newer models only: GS110EMX, GS750E, XS512EM, and XS724EM.
Support can't help or make wonders for other models, e.g. on the subject GS116Ev2 - the above linked KB entry does not apply here.
FWIW, static link aggregation is supported on the following models:
• GS110EMX
• GS116Ev2
• GS408EPP
• GS750E
• GSS108EPP
• GSS116E
• JGS516PE
• JGS524Ev1 (requires firmware v1.00.15 or a later version)
• JGS524Ev2
• JGS524PE
• XS512EM
• XS708E
• XS708Ev2
• XS716E
• XS724EM - DaneANETGEAR Employee Retired
