NETGEAR GS748T fans failure
Last month, when I checked our devices in our computer room, I found out that five Netgear Switches reported fan failure. I'm pretty sure our computer room is clean and constant temperature. We have total 20 Netgear Switches, it is very strange five Switches report fan failure at same time. The rest are not. Do you have any known knowledge base for this problem? Switch model is GS748Tv5, software version is 6.3.1.4. Each Switch reported two fans failure(There are two fans in one chassis).
Hello JerryShi,
And welcome to the NETGEAR Community! 🙂
There was an issue before specific to GS748Tv5 about fan failure and the solution is these switches has been replaced. There has been an internal investigation if there are batch of switches that has been released with the same issue. For now, I suggest to update your firmware to the latest and factory reset just one and see if it fixes the issue. If not, then you may have to open a ticket with Netgear to process a replacement.

Strange?
Let me guess all your switches have the similar uptimes and you don't have an active monitoring on the fans nd you found over time more nd more of these switches with the Fan LED warning on .... not that these fan failures happened the same moment.
The later one could proof difficult since (unless I'm not wrong) Netgear does no longer maintain the NETGEAR-BOXSERVICES-PRIVATE-MIB including fan, temperature, and power supply data on the Smart Managed Switches for a few years already.
In general, all these GS748Tv4 came with a limited life time warranty. Don't hesitate to open the hardware support tickets via https://my.netgear.com/

Hello, Rene
Thanks for your reply.
According to our company IT policy, the firmware is on 6.3.1.43, can not be upgraded to the newest version. These Switches are running on our customer's production system, so, any one can not be factory reset.
Our team already applied the spare units. We will replace the defective Switches in next a few days. Hope everything will be fine.
