XS716E vs. XS512EM
I am considering buying either a XS716E or a XS512EM switch for a small business - besides the obvious differences (like 16 vs.12 ports which is not really ciritical for me) what are the major differences? Does the XS716E also support 5-speed Networking? Which one would you buy?
The XS716E and its XS708Ev2 sibling are plain 1G/10G switches offering 10G/1G/100M copper and one shared 1G/10G SFP+ port, while the XS512EM and it's XS724EM brother are offering 5-speed Multi-Gigabit 10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M copper and one 10G/1G SFP+ ports.
If you require a 10G backhaul switch the plain "E" models are fine, if you intend to connect Multi-Gig devices (5G or 2.5G) notebooks, consumer NAS, wireless access point head for the "EM" models.
