With all due resect, this is simply nonsense.
Well possible, a switch connected in the wrong position on your Eero network will kill any connectivity - this is not the fault of the GS105v5 (or whatever other switch). Start about here: eero Help Center eero & Beacon Understanding eero How do I add more Ethernet ports?

With all due respect I'd recommend only including the second part of your answer when replying to people seeking help. There was no need for the first part because if I wasn't so damn stubborn I would have returned the switch and bought a competitor's product.
Turns out all I had to do was power cycle my modem and its working. I should have done that as a matter of anytime you make changes to the network its a best practice but sometimes we're human and forget.
