The problem here is the laptop and the Bnew Equipment does not belong to the same network. With the configuration that you have right now, all devices behind the FVS318G is experiencing "Double NAT". If you want the laptop and the Bnew devices talking along with the other devices behind the FVS318G you will have to remove the router function of the FVS318G. Assign an IP address to the FVS318G with the same range as the SMC modem (192.168.44.x) and disable its DHCP server function. After that, connect a cable from one of the LAN ports on the SMC to one of the LAN ports of the FVS318G. With this kind of setup, the FVS318G will act as a basic switch.
