FVS336G v1 Random Reboots
I really need some help and / or insight into this issue.. otherwise I feel like I might need to RMA the device..
My router has randomly rebooted 2x in last 36 hours..
I am running firmware version 3.0.7-24..
In last 90 days or so I don't seem to be getting uptime past 20 days or so before the unit just restarts..
The router is doing the following:
:: single WAN connection
:: basic QoS rules to support VOIP services from RingCentral
:: IPsec VPN configured for Mac/iOS use, but is basically never used (has been unreliable in that it sometimes just stop working - then making no config changes it just starts working again)
thanks for any help in advance..

ANY IDEAS? - Daedalus01AspirantI believe this unit has the built in power supply correct? Its been a while since I had the v1. If it has a external power supply, you could try a new one. random reboots are usually a sign of a dieing power source. Is it on a battery backup? If so, try taking it off it to see if it corrects the issue. If it does, then the UPS is most likely causing the issues and needs to be replaced. The failing VPN may be an indication that the config needs to be wiped and reprogrammed in. To see if the firmware is corrupt, you can always make a backup of your config, reload the firmware and I suggest manually re-programming in your config. If the config is corrupt and you reload it back in, then you're loading the same problem in again.
- greenhoodAspirantthe unit has the built in power supply..
-R - greenhoodAspirantI am working an RMA with NetGear..
I hope this helps..
I wiped the unit, re-installed firmware and rebuilt profile from scratch.. still getting random restarts every few days..
-R - Daedalus01AspirantIt has to be the power supply.
- slordsAspirantI've noticed that my unit also reboots, but it only seems to happen when I'm connected via SSL VPN. If I don't then it is pretty stable. However, once I connect an SSL VPN then within 2 hrs it will reboot. It doesn't matter how much or little traffic I send all I have to do is connect and it will always reboot.
- greenhoodAspirantNetGear was very helpfully and RMA'd the unit! They ending up sending me the V2 version and it has been working great.. previously the unit was rebooting every 48-72 hours and logging into the unit and clicking between a few tabs would make the unit reboot.. it was solid for a long time, but just eventually bit the dust..
I am likely to believe the power supply or something related to hardware was failing.. wiping the unit out, re-installing a new firmware and rebuilding the profiles from scratch had no impact..
The new unit did the trick...
WAY TO GO NETGEAR!
