FVS338 Wan state:Down

Problem - Cannot connect to internal CCTV and it cannot use SMTP to get out.

Background - We have FTTC connected to BTOpenreach switch, from here we connect to Plusnet and then onto the FVS338. Within the office we are OK to use VOIP phones, RDP out as needed and of course browse the internet.

The Prosafe also cannot send emails to our external mailserver.

If this were a Cisco asa5505 it would be far simpler perhaps.

It appears the device itself cannot communicate out to the WAN and after trying to resolve this with Netgear online support since the 6th I thought I would try here.

Any help is appreciated

thanks

Paul

    Hello Paulk59,

    Welcome to the community!

It appears that you are using a very old firmware, would you consider updating it first? How long have you been experiencing this issue? What changes have you made to your network before you experienced it?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks,

      Hello John

Yes I would perform an upgrade if we knew where to get it from.

We are now able to send email out from 192.169.1.10 but the FVS338 itself still cannot send emails which is a little strange although we are sending the email to 192.168.1.254 which is the plusnet router, the same option is not (I believe) available within the Netgear device.

Thank you for your time and interest it's more than we get from Netgear support.

      thanks

      Paul
