Netgear FVS336G V2 4.3.2.7 LAN/WAN Throughput
Hi,
We have a 50MB Fibre Connection and use the FVS336G with the WAN Port set to 1000 Full Duplex however on our client PC's we only recieve a download speed of 30MBps Upload/Download but I get a 50MBps Upload/Download from the front of our ISP Router.
I was under the impression that the Firewall has a LAN/WAN throughput of 60MBps has anyone experienced similar issues?
We only have basic rules on the firewall to allow SMTP traffic and it also controls an IPSec Tunnel for between offices, also block UDP Flood is turned off the rest of the setup is standard.
Thanks,

- NhellieVirtuosoThroughput should be 60 Mbps, test with the latest FW: 4.3.3-3
http://support.netgear.com/product/FVS336Gv2 - iToonNovicethanks for the reply when i loaded on the firmware 4.3.3.3 it restarted and the firmware came back as 4.3.2.7
I think the firmware 4.3.3.3 is for version v3 of the router - NhellieVirtuosoTry updating with 4.3.3.3 and do a factory reset, this FW is also posted on v2's page so this should be applicable to v2 units as well. I'll check if I have a v2 lying down on our lab and see if I can update it to 4.3.3.3
- NhellieVirtuosoTested FVS336Gv2 on lab, was able to update to 4.3.3.3 with no issues. Done speedtest and speed was as expected.
- iToonNoviceHello,
Thanks for taking the time to test an old unit and come back to me with a reply may i ask what type of connection did you test with?
Thanks, - NhellieVirtuosoHi, Welcome!
I only used a typical DSL connection (which is the on available at the moment). Were you able to update your firewall's FW? - fordemMentorThe type of connection is not really relevant, although the speed of the connection maybe.
There has to be some other device, call it a modem if you like, between the connection, whether it be a satellite link, or the more common cable, ADSL or fiber and the router, these will present an Ethernet interface to the router, and the router neither knows nor cares what it is connected to.
On the other hand, since DSL can rarely deliver the 50 mbps, then the fact that "Done speedtest and speed was as expected" may be of little relevance. - NhellieVirtuoso

Yes, I agree. Unfortunately DSL is the only thing available here. However, the speed when the computer is connected to the modem is almost the same as when it is connected to the firewall. - fordemMentorHere's my point ... Purely for the sake of discussion, The OP is getting his 50mbit/sec without the FVS336, and 30mbit/sec with, your ADSL traffic is what 5~10 mbit/sec? It will pass that without blinking
