Problems with FVS336GV2 and AVAYA 9620L VPN
Hi There,
I have Avaya 9620L currently working and all setup successfully with netgear FVS336gv3. My problem is, when the phone is switched off at the remote site in the afternoon and back ON in the morning it fails to connect via VPN. Just says IKE Phase 1 error. In my VPN log it says " could not find configuration file for xx.xx.xx.xx. Now this setup was working the previous day.
When i go into the netgear and change either "ecryption algorithm" or "Authentication algorithm" (doesn't matter to what) Than the log says that it does not match. Than I change it back to what it was before and what do you know, it's up and running like a charm. During the day no matter how many times power cycle the phone or the netgear, it always connects. Only when it is Off the whole nite, the next day the netgear does not let the phone connect unless i change a setting and than back to its orginal one. If i change a setting on both the Avaya and netgear it works.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the netgear is blocking the VPN until i change the setting?
Hi DaneA,
The firmware v3.1.1-08 seems to be more stable than v4.3.3-6 at least for my setup here. For the past week i have not had any issues and it works every morning when powered up. For now I will stick to the V3.1.1-08 firmware.

Hi Bornfree,
It seems that it kinda triggers to work again if you modify the settings of the FVS336Gv2 then change it back to what it was. Kindly answer the questions below:
a. I think you have the box-to-box VPN connection, am I right? If ever I am right, does it consists of 2 FVS336Gv2?
b. What is the current firmware version of the FVS336Gv2?

Hi DaneA,
I only have netgear on the PABX side. The other side (Phone side) I cannot control as the VPN phone is moved from time to time. I have tested it with a few different brands and the result is the same.
The firmware on the netgear has never been updated and that was the next thing i was supposed to do. Currently (from memory) I think it has 3.0.8, which is very old i guess.
I'm currently overseas with the phone and am not able to do anything on the netgear. As mentioned every morning i have skype head office and all they do is change a setting and back to original and i have a connection.
Once I'm back I will try to upgrade the firmware and get back to you.
Thank you for your reply
