To update: I spent about 7 hours with techs from my hosted IP provider and AT&T trying to resolve this problem, without success. In the end, I wound up rooting and hacking my AT&T NVG510 modem so that I could use it in bridge mode, and that resolved all of my issues. It is a shame that AT&T does not allow you to do that out of the box, as there is no way that their modem is suitable for business use without that bridge mode capability. Now I can finally take full advantage of the fine SRXN3205 router.:)
