FVS318N router keeps dropping network connectivity
I have had consistent problems where my router drops all connectivity. This is both for wired and wireless connections. When this happens, I am able to ping the routers IP address but am unable to log...

The wireless part of the router has been dropping our Windows 8 machines, Vizio television and HP printer quite regularly. My wife's kindle tablet and the Windows 7 machine do not seem to be affected. The only solution to the dropped wireless is to reboot the router. I have not been monitoring the wired connections for these dropouts.

It is interesting you are having this experience. This was my orignal problem. The router would drop all my wireless conenctions but my wired were fine. I tried various things and determined my wireless connections would drop about 4:30pm and then start working around 9:00pm. I would then try rebooting my router during this time frame and my connections would start working. Support could not find anything and told me that nobody else had this problem. I wondered if there was some type of limit I was hitting so I set up an automatic daily reboot at 5am. This worked well for a couple of months and then I started losing both my wireless and wired connections. Support has sent me several RMAs. They have had me upgrade/downgrade/upgrade ... my router as well as do many factory resets. No luck. Now my router has been stable for almost 1.5 months. I only keep this router because I need VPN to my home for my work and I like the integrated VPN. However, due to the instability of this router over the past 2 years I have become very frustrated. A couple of days ago I put my linksys EA6500 router in bridge mode to serve up my wireless as an access point. All is working well. In fact, connecting my linksys router back up has corrected the streaming issues I have been having with my Netgear. Here is the title to this problem. "Live Streaming with FVS318N router". I have connected my wired connections back to my linksys in bridge mode and I am able to stream content again without buffering. I going to see if this my network is now stable and if it crashes again, I will unplug the Netgear router and put another router in that I can run OPENVPN on. I hate to talk bad about a product but this router has not been stable for a couple of years, I cannot stream content from it and support has not been able to help. Please let me know if you have better luck. I hate to spend more money and am having a hard time understanding how this router can be so unstable but I have not had good luck.
