Need to isolate a Sky Stream streaming device on a WBE750?
Hi, I need to isolate a Sky Stream streaming device on a wbe750 as support says its trying to connect to multiple bands and weak signals causing it to freeze up and black screen on occasion. After call I made sure my 5ghz band was 5ghz only was told to avoid 2.4ghz for it. But after 8 mins it still froze up. This device is on WiFi in kitchen wbe750 is through 1 wall and a wardrobe into my room where wbe750 is. I have a second wbe750 in the living room and tech said it was trying to connect to that too. The living room Sky Stream and my room Sky Stream are both wired and both freeze up but takes longer to happen. So not a broadband issue as tech kept saying? I turned on mesh with my room as root and living room at receiver. My though now is to is to MAC filter it on my room wbe750 so kitchen device only talks to that AP. Tonight going to put wired and wireless on different gateways off my Netgate 4200 firewall to further separate the networks. AP's run on 192.168.0.1 and wired will run on 192.168.1.1. Is that plausible solution? If still freezes its the design of the devices. Plan was to wire all 3 but not got round to kitchen device yet blush. Kitchen device goes off when microwave on so does need to be wired.
Thanks in advance for help as I've never set this up before. Sky don't publish this info got it off tech support last night.
Cheers.

- jonp1331AspirantHi Brian,
Yes instant WiFi/mesh was enabled so 2 ap talk as one. Issue occurs wired too (2 sky stream devices wired) but Sky support wouldn't take that onboard saying its a broadband issue in our home. Before work 8am UK Fri going to ring sky support back to update. One thread on sky forum has 542 replies which was started in Feb 24 and is still not fixed. I did their suggested workaround yesterday before left for work 6am UK and didn't resolve. That was for out of lip sync issue but we also have picture freezing also. Device rebaged and sold in different markets globally and all reporting same issues. Devices not fit for purpose. I have 3 devices. Ours were fine till 2 weeks ago. Have cancelled the 2 additional whole home ones and they get turned off Nov 2nd. Parents still have playlist content they don't want to lose so having to keep original device till they have to move elsewhere. So MAC filtering to closest AP not going to help I'm thinking now. Was supposed to be wiring kitchen device too but not got it done yet blush. Done my 18 month contract so now on 30d rolling contract. Will ditch sky stream as soon as parents allow. Virgin Stream/Flex has issues too. Got their device as have virgin broadband but only allowed 1 device per household on FTTC and can't have cable STB & streaming device on same account either. On their XGS-PON FTTP allowed up to 6 Stream/Flex devices though. Be years before we get FTTP via them though. So researching options going forward.
Cheers in advance.

Hi jonp1331,
Thank you for your response.
When you said that another SKY streaming device (wired) has the same issue, the problem might be with your broadband. This has nothing to do with the Mesh of the APs anymore. By the way, are these streaming devices wired to a switch or directly to your NETGATE 4200 Firewall?
Kind regards,
BrianL
