Do I have to pay a lifelong subscription to manage the WAX630E wifi access point?
No. It is because you can also manage the WAX630E through its local web-GUI.
Let me just add that the WAX630E comes with a 1-year free NETGEAR Insight subscription. NETGEAR Insight is a cloud-based management platform where you can configure and monitor NETGEAR Insight devices. You might want to give it try. If ever the 1-year free NETGEAR Insight subscription expired and you still want to continue, then you can start your subscription. Otherwise, you can still manage the WAX630E locally.
