Problem with WNDAP360 after updating WC7520

Yesterday I updated our WC7520 controller to the latest firmware (2.5.0.39), and since then all our APs (WNDAP360) are rebooting and loosing connection. They can work for a few minutes, then they fail. In the GUI for the controller it first says "Down", then "Major" on the APs. I've logged in to one of the APs directly and everything seems okay, it has the same version as the controller. I haven't changed anything in the configuration, just updated the firmware. What can the problem be? In the logs it seems the clients are having problems authenticating and get temporarily blacklisted, if this information helps.

  • Hi Johanhelin,

Thank you for the quick reply.

The problem is definitely because you have unchecked 802.11na, this is the bug we have in 2.5.0.39 firmware, and we have fixed it in 2.5.0.40 and later versions. We are in the process of web releasing the firmware 2.5.0.42 with the fix. Until then eventhough you are not using 802.11na Radio as a quick fix to this issue can you check "Turn radio on"?

    thanks,

    laxman.

  • Hi Johanhelin,

There is one known issue of WNDAP360s rebooting in this perticular firmware 2.5.0.39. Have you configured radio schedule on/off feature, or configured any of the SSID with mixed mode security (wpa-psk/wpa2-psk)?. If you can share this configuration information i can help you to fix this issue by suggesting some configuration changes.

The radio schedule on/off is set to off. The SSIDs are either Open, WPA2-PSK with TKIP + AES or just AES. No mixed mode configured what I can see. The automatic channel allocation is configured, can this be a problem?

        Hi Johenhelin,

Thanks for quick reply. Can you give us the information on the following

        1. Can you see in Configuration->Wireless->Wireless page "Turn Radio On" is checked or unchecked in the basic and  advanced groups.

        2. Does all the APs are in basic group or spread across multiple groups.

        3. What was the firmware version from which you have upgraded the wc7520 to 2.5.0.39. Are the APs started rebooting only after upgrading to this firmware?, and there were no AP reboots in the previous     firmware?

        4. Are all the APs going for a reboot periodically for every 5-10 minutes?.

        5. Can you go to Maintenance->Logs & Alerts -> Save Logs -> AP logs page and save the AP logs for the ones which are rebooting, and upload here?.

        6. Does firmware rollback to the previous release resolve the issue?.

        thanks,

        laxman.
