    Correct: Confirmed, your understanding is correct!

     

    Native VLAN is an outated Cisco (plus some other vendor) designation from the past, modern switches no longer have such a potentially cumbersome default native VLAN anymore.

     

    You have to configure an Access Port for [U]ntagged VLAN 1, and don't forget to set the port to PVID 1, so untagged ingress frames will be assigned to the switch VLAN ID 1.
