WAX610 login fails

Hello everyone,
I bought a used WAX610.
Unfortunately, after connecting to the "Setup SSID" on the GUI in the web browser (192.168.0.100),
i cannot log in with the standard login data ("admin" - "password" or "admin" - "1234").
I'm always told that the login details are incorrect.
I googled "whatever it takes"... found nothing.
I've already tried this 30-30-30 method... Same result 😞
It can't be that the standard login data is incorrect in the "initial setup mode"!
Is there a solution?

Many greetings and thanks

Hallo zusammen,

Habe gegoogelt "was das Zeug hält"... Nichts gefunden.

Habe diese 30-30-30 Methode auch schon versucht... Selbes Ergebnis 😞

  • Hello everyone,
First of all, thank you very much for your time and wanting to help, maybe also curiosity: slightly_smiling_face:

    The WAX610 is completely fixed!

Login was not possible, the previous owner had probably assigned a different password but left the standard SSID...

By chance or desperation I triggered the reset button in quick succession...

That must have booted the backup FW...

    Login worked

Then there is the non-functioning LAN connection...

The cooler between the housing and the circuit board was probably not sitting properly on the circuit board. (short circuit)
After a new correct "assembly" the LAN connection now works.

Wishing everyone a Merry, Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025 at the end of the year

    Andre

    Hallo zusammen,

The complete WAX610 documentation for your convenience.

Keep in mind the default LAN IP 192.168.0.100 is active only if the AP is not connected to a LAN port on a common router and usually assigning an IP config to your WAX.

In case this WAX610 was configured to Insight before, and the former owner config including the location specific admin password is assigned once the Internet connection does become available.

You might need Netgear Support for assistance for removing your WAX610 (based on the serial number), becuse only the fomer admin can easily remove devices from his account -> How do I remove a device from my Insight account?

      Good morning,
thank you for your answer and time 🙂
Since I have already successfully configured a 610Y and a 615, at least they work for me 🙂 I'm just at a loss with this AP.
Thank you very much for the documentation, but it hasn't helped me so far.
What you say about the IP is correct, unfortunately when connecting to my network the LAN LED remains dark and no connection is established.
When I connect the AP to my PoE switch the same thing.
The former owner wrote to me that he had deleted the switch from his Insight, but also had difficulties setting up the AP. That's why I first tried to access the switch via WiFi to log in.
As already mentioned, I can connect successfully with the initial setup SSID and the printed key, but unfortunately I keep getting rejected when logging in.
Even in the Insight program I can "initially configure" everything but it can't get a connection to the AP.
      I'll try to summarize it:
      LAN LED: dead
WiFi: works Login with "admin" and "password": fails (I'm told incorrect data).
Insight connection doesn't work because there is no LAN.

Since I can't get a LAN connection, Insight can't do anything?

Sorry, my English is a little rusty and google try to help me 😄

If the LAN LED (this is a link indicator!) remains dark, and even more if a PoE+ (802.3at is the minimum required for the WAX610) switch or injector I would double and tripple check the wiring, the cabling, the patch cords, ... in most case, this is a Layer 0 (== physical connection) issue.

Sure, this could have been the reason why the original owner had sold it.
