WAX625 | No firmware 12.5.0.12 inside Netgear Insight list
Hi,
On Jan 6, 2026, 10:02 PM PT, I received alert from Netgear Insight Alert (via e-mail) that new firmware is available:
WAX625/WAX628 Firmware Version 12.5.0.12
I am interested in installing this firmware as it supposedly fixes issues with random reboots and I was experiencing something similar where device just locks itself and all SSIDs become unavailable and the only remedy was power restart. Those power restarts are not trivial for me because WAP is PoE powered and high up on the wall. I was forced to buy a timer which cuts out power to the whole network rack including main router (fw) and WAX625.
I went into the Netgear Insight > Firmware > Set Target Firmware (upper right corner) to find this firmware 12.5.0.12 and it is not on the list. The latest I see is 11.8.0.9 which appears to be also the one I have installed and the latest one listed on the product page:
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/wax625
So, I am wondering what is going on here? Why did I get this e-mail when the firmware is not generally available for install?
Thank you!

Possible that NG is still in process of getting it posted and or put up on the download site and with in the Insight FW update system. Might give it a couple of days and check again. If nothing, make contact with NG support and inquire with in.

On 1/6/2026 at 10:14 PM (Pacific), I received an Netgear Insight firmware update email for:
WAX630E/WAX638E Firmware Version 12.5.0.12
As of 1/10/2026 at 3:00 PM (Pacific), Insight phone app shows Firmware Version: 11.8.0.9 with no update listed. It seems the email may have been sent early or the Insight app has not been updated with this new version.
I really don't understand their release cycle. News way ahead of the product.

On 1/12/2026 at 1:23 AM (Pacific), I received an Netgear Insight firmware update email for:
WAX630E/WAX638E Firmware Version 12.5.0.13
It looks like the 12.5.0.12 version announced in the 1/6/2026 email was replaced by the 12.5.0.13 version (and was available in the Netgear Insight app and updated successfully).

I received the notification as well. Today, I was informed that version 12.5.0.13 is available for my WAX630E, but both the website and my device show they are on the latest version, 11.8.0.9.

I updated to 12.5.0.12 last week and received notice this morning for a newer version which is now unavailable. Seeing these last two versions were recalled, should we downgrade to 11.8.0.9?

All my devices show 11.8.0.9 as the latest version, and the same is shown on the individual product page (WAX630E, for example). The only indication I have that an updated firmware version was ever available is the two emails from Insight.

Two devices updated to 12.5.0.13, the third WAX630 refused.
A day later all devices were updated to 12.5.0.14.
But now the target firmware in the app and Insight shows the old 11.8.0.10!

Seems like signs they are frantically trying to fix bugs and making more problems.
EdgarZe , thanks for letting us know. Based on your experience, I have just decided do disable scheduled update in NG Insight Cloud Portal. I will stick to manual updates for some time until there is some clarification about this.

I'm not seeing anything that anyone else is seeing. I still only see 11.8.0.9 as the latest available version, and that is what my APs are running. If I go to the product support page, it shows no new firmware available.
