WAX630E Port #1 (2.5gbps) won't negotiate 2.5. Defaults to 1gbps on 2 diff switches!
Hi all, I have a WAX630E and am using all CAT6 or CAT7 cabling.
I have a Netgear GS110MX and 3 Asustor 5 port 2.5G ASW205T switches.
The WAX630E is plugged in using the power brick that came with it - and I am NOT using POE of any kind (+ or ++) on my network at all.
This post and troubleshooting applies to the WAX630E's connections to ALL of the above switches.
I cannot plug port #1 into the switches and get a 2.5gbps link. The Asustors shows orange (<2.5gbps link) and the Netgear shows lighting appropriate to a 1gbps link in the 100mb-10G port(s).
I am SURE this linked to both the Netgear's and the Asustor at 2.5gbps when I bought it 2 months ago. I haven't changed any ETH cables EXCEPT for going UP from CAT6 to CAT7 when I noticed this issue...ie: I only changed cabling when I saw a problem.
Is this a known issue? I have backed up my current settings from the WAX630E and COULD do a factory reset but am loathe to go through this is it is not the issue. I have a new TP-LINK 2.5gbps switch coming Tuesday to try, but I doubt this is the issue.
Ideas? Any way to see how the WAX630E is locking the link? ie: logs that show how it negotiated the link?
Thanks!
Jann

I'm not trying to cause issues but you're sure you're connected to the correct ethernet port?
1 of them is gigabit and the other 2.5gig.
Just don't want you doing a bunch of troubleshooting when its just plugged into the wrong ethernet port on the WAX
Yes. (and no I'm not offended you asked).
Port labeled 1 with a lightning bolt is the 2.5gbps port that also accepts POE+/++.
That's the one I tested. For giggles (not really) I have tested the other port #2 as well.
Thanks!

Just thought I'd ask 🙂
You'll have to wait for the guys who usually watch the business class stuff to help. I don't have any of the business class equipment to see what settings could be changed.Good luck!
