SXK50 Access point and Vlan setup
Has anyone setup an Orbi Pro in Access Point mode, enable the built in VLANs and controlled the VLANS with a smart with and router? My reasons for this are covered in my future use case:
I have my SXK50 setup with the 3 standard VLANS. Everything works however I'm trying to accomplish the following:
- Move my Roku TVs to Vlan30 but still access them via moile app on default VLAN
- Install a Hubitat Automation controller and various Zigbee devices on IoT VLAN with mobile app access from default VLAN
- Integrate NAS on default VLAN with hubitat IOT controller on IoT VLAN
If Im using the Obri Pro as my router, I cannot ceate any VLAN specific rules to accomplish these tasks. I think it might be possible if I use mDNS and set a rule so all VLAN30 services are shared to VLAN 1 but I have no idea if this will cover all the capabilites needed for the Hubitat and eventual Zigbee devices I'll be seting up. The same would go for the Roku TV. I do NOT want to exose all services from VLAN 1 to VLAN 30 for NAS control

To clarify, my router would be a router/firewall like pfsense or comparable product.

Hi MetalGeek
We have used for setting up Airplay, chromecast and Printer it works well with mDNS.
Yes using Obri Pro as router mode. Router mode help to setup mDNS, with this feature you can set a rule so all VLAN30 services are shared to VLAN 1 and IOT(Vlan30) services from vlan1 or Vlan20 etc.
Thanks,

....so the 3rd party router has to take care about MDNS, the Orbi Pro System in Access Point mode can't...

reading this, the more I'm confused about the mDNS gateway implementation on the WAX6xx.

That would be correct along with all the FW rules to pass traffic between VLANs. The key for me is to undersand if the firmware of the Obri Pro will support this config. It supports access point mode but does it support the VLANs as well?
